An agricultural engineer by training, Joseph Kouame has focused his professional trajectory, for thirty years, on sustainable agricultural development and good production practices, particularly of food, coffee and cocoa. After a specialization in crop production at the Ecole Nationale Supérieure d'Agronomie de Yamoussoukro, he began his professional career with the study of agricultural production systems around the classified forests of eastern Côte d'Ivoire within the "stabilization of agricultural production systems (PROSTAB)" project. Well involved in the creation and development of innovation with various research institutes, agricultural consulting and rural development projects, Joseph Kouame has acquired expertise in project management, sustainable soil management, agroforestry as well as sustainable coffee and cocoa cultivation.
Exploiting his potential in rural animation, Joseph Kouame has appropriated strategic and operational planning tools to develop expertise in planning (PPO, GAR) and in moderation of meetings andworkshops. His extensive experience, particularly in agricultural consulting, research and development and his mastery of the environment of the national agricultural sectors, allow him to assume since 2011 the function of Director of the Coffee – Cocoa and Cola Department of FIRCA (Interprofessional Fund for Agricultural Research and Advice). After having coordinated the development of the national strategy for the control of swollen shoot disease and its implementation from 2010 to 2018, Joseph Kouame remains committed to the effective management of diseases and pests of Coffee and Cocoa.
