Benjamin Kwesi Asare holds an MSc. Degree in Environmental Science and a BSc. Degree in Post-Harvest Technology from Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), Ghana. He also possesses a certificate in project management from Ghana Institute of Management and Public Administration (GIMPA).
With over ten years of experience in the cocoa sector in Ghana, Benjamin has extensive knowledge in implementing and auditing sustainable standards for agricultural products. He has worked as a lead auditor with certification bodies such as RA-Cert (Now Preferred by Nature) and AfriCert, successfully auditing UTZ and Rainforest Alliances' sustainable standards for crops like cocoa, tea, and coffee in East and West Africa.
Since joining Fairtrade Africa in 2016, Benjamin has been at the forefront of implementing the dynamic agroforestry (DAF) system of cocoa farm establishment through the Sankofa project. This project aims to support Fairtrade certified cocoa farmers in Ghana by rehabilitating existing cocoa farms or establishing new ones using the DAF approach, all in an effort to promote sustainable cocoa production in Ghana.
