President, Asunafo Union
Emmanuel Sarpong is a 67-year-old Cocoa Farmer, professional Teacher and President of Asunafo Union. I had my primary and secondary school education at Fawohoyeden and Mim Secondary School respectively, I went on to receive teacher certificate and education degree from Akrokeri Teacher Training College and University of Winneba respectively.
My 36 years in teaching impacted knowledge, promote extra-curricular activities and instilled discipline among students.
He is also one of the board of directors of the Adom Cocoa Buying Company limited since 2018 to date. He was also instrumental during the establishment of Adom Cocoa.
As an elected president of Asunafo Union in 2010, I was instrumental in the formation of the union in the same year through the support of Cadbury cocoa Partnership now Mondelez International. I also made significant contribution towards the union becoming a Fairtade and Rainforest Alliance Certified Small Producer Organization (SPO), attracting a new buyer- Tonyscholonely, construction of an Office Complex, infrastructure provision to member societies and acquisition of Adom LBC. During my tenure, the union was Runner-up for 2018 Best SPO chair in Kenya, and in 2019 won the Most Formalized Cooperative in Ghana award at the Ghana Cocoa Award. In 2020 the Union also won the most formalized Small Producer Organization awarded by Fairtrade International. I was also elected as the President of Fairtrade Ghana in the last quarter of 2023.
