Harold Poelma joined Cargill in 1987 and has held various management positions in Cargill's refined vegetable oils business, Cargill's oilseeds processing division and grain trading division in Europe and the United States.
He has worked in the cocoa industry for Cargill in the Netherlands since 2001 when he became managing director of Cargill's cocoa activities in Europe, Africa and Asia in June 2006.
As from June 2012 Harold was managing director for Cargill Refined Oils Europe (CROE) until he was appointed as president for the global cocoa & chocolate activities in January of 2016 until today. In June 2020 he was appointed as Chairman of the European Cocoa Association.
Harold has a master's degree in industrial engineering and management science from the University of Technology in Eindhoven.
