Ruben Bergsma is the Cocoa Sector Lead at the Rainforest Alliance. He has close to a decade of experience in cocoa certification and sustainability at UTZ Certified and (following the 2018 merger) at the Rainforest Alliance. Before starting this position he spent over 4 years developing the market for UTZ certification in Australia and New Zealand and several years working with key stakeholders as global key account manager. He has a master’s degree in Business Studies at the University of Amsterdam and also has experience in finance and carbon offsetting.
