Senior Research Fellow, School of Agriculture, Policy and Development, University of Reading
Andrew Daymond is a Senior Research Fellow in the School of Agriculture, Policy and Development at the University of Reading. He has particular responsibility for managing the International Cocoa Quarantine Centre, a facility that is key to ensuring safe international movement of cocoa germplasm and that enables broad access to cocoa germplasm primarily for research and breeding. He also co-edits the Technical Guidelines for the Safe Movement of Cacao Germplasm document. Andrew’s long and varied track record of research on cocoa primarily centres on how cocoa responds to its environment. This includes responses to the aerial environment, with a particular focus on climate change and to the soil environment, with an emphasis on soil amendments.
