Collaborating with Governments

WCF partners with cocoa-producing governments, including Côte d’Ivoire, Ghana, Brazil, Ecuador and Indonesia, to advance policies on land management, farmer livelihoods, forest protection and productivity. We support the development of national strategies by bringing technical expertise, shared datasets and sector-wide perspectives.

In consuming markets, WCF provides technical input to EU, UK and US policymakers to support coherent, workable regulatory frameworks. Our engagement emphasizes transparency, scientific grounding and alignment with origin-country priorities.

Through shared advocacy positions and coordinated analysis, WCF enables companies to respond collectively to evolving regulations such as the EU Deforestation Regulation and the Corporate Sustainability Due Diligence Directive. By grounding discussions in common definitions, harmonised data and practical implementation insights, we help strengthen policy effectiveness and reduce fragmentation.

Our goal is a global cocoa supply chain where sustainability expectations are clear, feasible and consistently applied across markets.
