Christopher Stewart – global head, sustainability impact at ofi (Olam Food Ingredients)
Trained first in zoology then as a tropical forest ecologist in the 90's, I have over 25 years experience in sustainable agriculture, land use and conservation. I joined Olam Group in 2013 to deliver a new generation of certified, nature-positive palm plantations in Gabon, then moved to lead the corporate sustainability team in 2016. Since then, highlights of our teamwork include launching Atsource - our award-winning metrics-led sustainability platform for the agri sector - in 2018, steering through Olam’s restructuring and the creation of ofi in 2020, creating product sustainability strategies and targets for Cocoa, Coffee, Nuts, Spices and Dairy, validating our climate action strategy with SBTi, and rolling out ofi’s new sustainability strategy, Choices for Change, from 2024 onwards. As ofi’s head of sustainability impact I am responsible for ensuring that our network of half a million supported farmers achieve measurable positive livelihood outcomes, benefiting their communities and safeguarding the living landscapes that support their farms and ofi’s supply chains.
