Jan Raes

Jan Raes is the Lead on Finance and Plastics at UNEP FI. His role is bridging the Circular Economy, Pollution and Nature team. Prior to joining UNEP FI, Jan spent more than 20 years in the financial industry, working as a climate and circular economy finance expert focusing on sustainable business strategy. His efforts havecontributed to the awareness raising and capacity building on sustainable finance for ABN AMRO Bank, the international affairs think tank Chatham House, UNECE’s circular step and financial industry platforms focused on sustainable shipping, carbon accounting, biodiversity accounting and science based targets for finance. Together with a panel of circular economy experts he is author of UNEP FI’s Financing Circularity: Demystifying Finance for Circular Economies and Redirecting Financial Flows to End Plastic Pollution.
