Rafael Chan

Rafael Chan Navarrete is the Head of Plant Science Global for Cocoa at ofi, a role he has held since March 2023. He brings extensive experience from previous positions at Nestlé—where he led R&D for coffee and cocoa—and at Enza Zaden as a biotech breeder. He holds a PhD in Plant Breeding from Wageningen University and has expertise in genetics, molecular biology, plant breeding, and agronomy. He is currently based in Amsterdam, the Netherlands, with projects across Latin America, Asia, and Africa.
