Remi van Balen is a sustainability and carbon professional with a background in international cocoa trade. He leads decarbonization efforts across ETG’s cocoa supply chains, translating corporate climate, carbon, and deforestation requirements into practical, farmer-centric interventions. At ETG | Beyond Beans, Remi oversees large-scale programmes in West Africa that integrate agroforestry, regenerative agriculture, and circular economy solutions to improve farm productivity, resilience, and incomes while meeting Net Zero and supply-chain compliance frameworks. Previously, he worked as a cocoa trader and sustainability manager at ECOM, combining commercial responsibility with on-the-ground programme implementation at origin.
