Gender Team Leader at the Rural Transformation and Gender Equality Division, Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO)
Tacko Ndiaye is Gender Team Leader at the Rural Transformation and Gender Equality Division of the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), coordinating a multidisciplinary team that oversees and supports the implementation of normative, technical and programmatic work on issues related to agrifood systems, rural transformation, natural resource management and climate change. She coordinates initiatives related to the celebration of the International Year of the Woman Farmer.
Over the last 29 years, she has been mainstreaming gender and social inclusion in policies, programmes, institutions, statistics and investment plans, focusing on the agrifood sector. Prior to joining FAO in 2014, she worked for 10 years with UN Women Headquarters, as Policy Advisor on Women’s Economic Empowerment and Sustainable Development, among other positions. Between 2004 and 2007, she was Economic Affairs Officer at the United Nations Economic Commission for Africa (UNECA), piloting the African Gender and Development Index.
