Founder and CEO, Emfed Farms
Kwabena Assan Mends is the founder and CEO of Emfed Farms, Emfed a labor service organization that provides full farm management service to smallholder cocoa farmers who can not pay upfront the cost of labor for any sustainable income. Emfed sign contract with them and take over the management activities. Within the cocoa value chain we collect the cocoa husk after pod breaking and used it to produce compost to fertilize the farms. Emfed managed farms to generate more income for the farmer, and produce compost to boost the biodiversity activities of the environment and reducing the over usage of inorganic fertilizers.(That is Kwabena as an Acumen West fellow 2019.) Before starting Emfed I worked with conservation alliance international as ICS manager and has taught as General Agriculture Teacher in Ghana. Kwabena holds bachelors degree In agriculture. I have done many consultancy works for BAYER, SNV Ghana, Solidaridad and Touton.
