Consul General of the Netherlands in São Paulo, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, The Netherlands
Wieneke Vullings represents the Kingdom of the Netherlands as consul‐general for São Paulo, Mato Grosso do Sul, Paraná, Santa Catarina and Rio Grande do Sul. She is responsible for economic, cultural and consular affairs in this region. Before taking this diplomatic post in Brazil, she was a member of the management team of the Sustainable Economic Development Department of the Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs. There she worked on sustainable supply chains, living income and living wage, eradicating child labour & deforestation, and public‐private partnerships. She also has a background in global health, gender equality, women’s rights and sexual and reproductive health and rights.
Before joining the Ministry in 2014, she worked in the private sector as a strategy consultant and head of an international team working on innovation policy, sustainable development and global health issues. Part of this time she lived and worked in Sao Paulo (2007‐2010). She holds a Master’s degree in science and technology studies from Maastricht University. A red thread in her career and personal ambitions is to solve international societal challenges with inclusive, sustainable and innovative solutions and increase policy effectiveness. Her strong commitment is to find both public and private sector solutions to economic and development challenges.
