Managing Director, Sunbeth Global Concepts
Olasunkanmi Owoyemi is the Managing Director
of Sunbeth Global Concepts, a rapidly growing
African agri-commodities trading, export and
processing company focused on transforming
agricultural value chains and creating greater
opportunities for origin producers.
A second-generation entrepreneur with deep
roots in Nigeria’s cocoa industry, Olasunkanmi
founded Sunbeth in response to a challenge he
witnessed firsthand in his father’s business:
persistent delays in payments to origin traders
by local and international cocoa buyers. These
delays had a direct impact on traders’ ability to
operate and, ultimately, on production at origin.
What began as a personal response to a
challenge affecting his family’s business has
evolved into a growing African enterprise that
now moves tens of thousands of metric tonnes
of agricultural commodities annually, connecting
producers at origin with global markets.
Over the past decade, Olasunkanmi has led
Sunbeth’s growth from an initial 200 metric
tonnes to more than 50,000 metric tonnes
annually, establishing the company as an
increasingly significant player in Nigeria’s
non-oil export sector. In 2025, Sunbeth was
recognised among Nigeria’s leading non-oil
export revenue contributors.
In March 2026, the company achieved another
significant milestone with the raising of what it
described as the largest commercial paper
issuance by an agricultural company in Nigeria
and West Africa in the past decade.
A defining feature of Olasunkanmi’s leadership has
been his focus on vertical integration, connecting
sourcing, logistics, storage, processing and export
capabilities to strengthen efficiency, reliability and
value creation across the agricultural supply chain.
This approach has enabled Sunbeth to build
greater control across the journey from origin to
global markets while developing capabilities that
support its long-term transition from an export-led
business to a fully integrated agricultural enterprise.
Olasunkanmi is passionate about building systems
that empower stakeholders across the value chain,
particularly origin producers. His vision is centred
on giving farmers and communities greater access
to structured financing, education, technology,
logistics and reliable market access, enabling them
to unlock the productive potential of Africa’s
agricultural regions and contribute meaningfully
to global food security.
