President, Liberia Organic Cocoa and Agricultural Company
Andrew Gilboy is President of the Liberia Organic Cocoa & Agricultural Company, a start-up co-founded by the late Joseph Urey, a Liberian HR professional who was passionate about developing organic cocoa, and Mr. Gilboy with 50+ years of experience working throughout Africa.
Incorporated in the United States and registered in Liberia, the company is in its 2nd planting season growing organic cocoa in Bong County for future export. Mr. Gilboy began in Africa with the Peace Corps in Senegal in 1968 after which Africa became the center of his personal and professional life. Since then, he’s worked in 48 African countries and lived in two for seven years.
Over the years he served as a management and training consultant specializing in organizational performance improvement and project evaluation. For 23 years he was co-owner of a successful Washington, D.C. consulting company concentrating on African development. Clients included USAID, the World Bank, several multinational mining companies, the United Nations and a number of NGOs.
Mr. Gilboy has a Masters Degree from the University of Illinois, is fluent in French and Wolof, and divides his time between a home in Senegal and in Washington, DC.
