Global Head, South Pole’s Corporate Advisory Practice
Anne-Franziska enables corporations to act on climate change, transform business models and succeed sustainably. As Global Head of South Pole’s Corporate Advisory Practice, she often describes her duties in her day-to-day life as being a translator. Translating climate strategy concepts into operational business activities. Translating complex science-based methodologies into concrete corporate action on the ground. And ultimately transfer knowledge from theory to practice and from leadership to mainstream.
Together with her global consultants’ team she delivers a full range of climate change and sustainability advisory services from strategy, risk and materiality assessments through to detailed accounting assessments along life cycles and value chains down to concrete projects at farm level.
Anne-Franziska’s role also includes to bridge South Pole’s advisory services towards concrete project finance, unleash additional financial flows and foster community-based project activities. Her aim is to scale impact through innovative consultancy approaches for corporations to adjust business models and finally implement climate action to stay within the planetary boundaries.
Within her 20 years of climate and carbon market advisory experience, Anne-Franziska has advised many of the globally leading corporations in their climate journey. This included the start of a journey to understand the nitty gritty accounting and disclosure rules, to set science-based targets and to map concrete net zero roadmaps with clear decarbonization action. She started her career in the European ETS, forecasting and modelling carbon price levels, developing CDM projects, creating carbon neutrality labels and advising on compliance and voluntary carbon markets. She further advised the Californian legislator on the implementation of its cap & trade scheme, and she worked as a risk advisor and auditor for KPMG in the US prior to having joined South Pole in 2015. Since then, she built up and led the corporate advisory practice at South Pole.
