Dr N'Guessan Walet Pierre holds a PhD in Environment with a specialisation in Entomology and Ecosystem Management from Université Félix Houphouët-Boigny, Côte d'Ivoire.
Since 2009, he has been researching Swollen Shoot Disease, focusing on vector control and integrated pest management, while also working on biological control methods for other cocoa pests. In June 2023, he became Coordinator of the Cocoa Programme at CNRA, leading projects that strengthen pest management strategies and build capacity among farmers and stakeholders.
He has authored 30+ peer-reviewed publications and 20 technical leaflets, including the “Guide to Combat Swollen Shoot Disease” (2011). He is a member of SECI and AAIS and received the Best Scientific Work on Cocoa Innovation Award from Jean Lorougnon Guédé University (UJLOG).
Dr. N'GUESSAN is also a 2013 Borlaug Fellow.
