Julia Christian is a UK and US trained lawyer who has been working with Fern since 2014. Her current focus is on strengthening EU policies to combat deforestation caused by imported commodities, particularly cocoa. Before joining Fern, she worked at Client Earth, Reforestamos Mexico, the Liberian NGO Sustainable Development Institute and the Gabonese NGO Brainforest. She has a BA in History from Oxford University, a Juris Doctor from Columbia Law School and a master’s in law from SOAS, University of London.
