Matthijs de Meer

Matthijs de Meer is the European Cocoa Association’s Senior Manager EU Affairs & Sustainability. Within the ECA, Matthijs’ work is focused on the various pieces of EU sustainability legislation including the EU Deforestation Regulation, Corporate Sustainability Due Diligence Directive, and Forced Labour Regulation. Matthijs informs and advises the ECA membership on these files and represent the membership vis-à-vis the European Institutions, national governments, and other external stakeholders.

Prior to working at the ECA, Matthijs worked in the European Parliament on International Trade including EU-Africa trade relations. Matthijs holds a Master’s degree in European Law and Constitutional & Administrative Law from Leiden University.
