Sophie Higman, Director of Programmes at Proforest UK, has worked in the production and sourcing of agricultural commodities, forest management and international development for more than 25 years. She specializes in making sense of complex and multidimensional challenges, seeking clarity of purpose and communicating ideas in simple language.
She builds on her extensive experience in agricultural and forest commodity production globally with private, public and non-governmental organisations, and currently leads Proforest’s UK charity, the Proforest Initiative. Sophie has a passion for writing about commodity production and sustainability, and co-authored two books on the subject - Feeding the Market: South American farmers, trade and globalization and The Sustainable Forestry Handbook.
