WCF is excited to welcome Wisdom as the new Cocoa & Forests Initiative and Environment Manager for Ghana.

As the Cocoa & Forests Initiative and Environment Manager for the World Cocoa Foundation in Ghana, Wisdom will play a crucial role in advancing WCF’s mission of promoting sustainable cocoa production while addressing deforestation and environmental conservation. By facilitating collaboration between key players such as the Ministry of Lands and Natural Resources, COCOBOD, Forestry Commission, international donors and WCF members, Wisdom will ensure that WCF initiatives align with national and regional environmental goals. In his role, Wisdom will also develop innovative solutions for cocoa farmers, helping them adopt climate-resilient practices while enhancing productivity.

WCF Ghana Country Director Mawuli Coffie comments, “Wisdom’s extensive experience in agroforestry, sustainable agriculture and climate-smart practices will help him lead efforts to protect cocoa landscapes, restore forests and ensure environmental sustainability in cocoa farming regions. We are very excited to have him on board.”

With over nine years of experience as a development advisor in sustainable production, agricultural value chains, and climate change, Wisdom also brings valuable expertise in innovative agroforestry. Most recently, Wisdom was a Senior Agricultural Policy Advisor at the Dutch Embassy in Ghana, managing Dutch government-funded initiatives that improved smallholder farmers' skills in horticulture. He has led impactful projects like the EU Green Project as well as having worked at SNV to promote agroforestry in the cocoa value chain. Wisdom’s passion for climate-smart farming, climate adaptation, and digital E-extension services will be key as he continues to drive sustainable cocoa production and environmental conservation in his new role.

“Working for WCF provides me with the opportunity to contribute to environmental improvement, not only in cocoa production but also in the sustainable management of forest resources. I am looking for an exciting experience in convening stakeholders to deliver sustainable collective solutions to the cocoa sector,” said Wisdom Tahn Konwuruk.

Wisdom possesses a master’s degree in environmental science from the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology in Kumasi and a bachelor’s degree in Renewable Natural Resources from the University of Development Studies in Tamale.
