Post-doctoral Researcher, Swiss Ornithological Institute
Crinan Jarrett is a post-doctoral researcher based at the Swiss Ornithological Institute (Sempach, Switzerland). Her research focusses on the effects of cocoa agriculture on wildlife, especially birds, in West Africa. For her PhD, Crinan studied bird communities in cocoa farms in Cameroon, finding that win-win scenarios for biodiversity and farmers are possible with diversified agroforestry. Now, her main project is in Côte d’Ivoire, continuing to seek pathways to reconcile bird conservation and cocoa production, in collaboration with local ornithologists and farming communities. Crinan’s interests also encompass testing and developing methods for biodiversity monitoring and population modelling that are adapted to West African cocoa landscapes.
