Agricultural Auditor, CEPLAC/Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock of Brazil
Karina Gramacho is an Agronomic Engineer from the Federal University of Bahia (1985) and a PhD in Plant Pathology, with an emphasis on Plant Epidemiology, from the University of Florida (1999), United States. She also completed a senior fellowship at CIRAD (French Agricultural Research Centre for International Development). Since 2023, she has been a Full Member of the Brazilian Academy of Agronomic Sciences (ABCA) and has served as a member of the Technical Advisory Board of FAPESB in the field of Agricultural Sciences, as well as the Agronomy Advisory Committee of CNPq. Currently, Karina is an Agricultural Auditor at CEPLAC/Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock of Brazil and a researcher at the Cocoa Research Center (CEPEC/CEPLAC/MAPA), where she conducts research in the area of population biology of phytopathogens, including genetic and evolutionary aspects of populations, molecular epidemiology, and the application of these fields to the integrated management of cocoa diseases. She is also an Associate Professor in the Graduate Program in Genetics and Molecular Biology at the State University of Santa Cruz (UESC).
